These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Gathering Info

My surgery is scheduled for July 22. I have prayerfully decided to take an entire week off of work to give myself proper time to heal. In my mind I was thinking I would have this major surgery on Wednesday and be back in the pulpit the same weekend. It was insane, but sometimes our minds make us think we are invincible.

I have been talking to several people who have gone through with this procedure. Every person says that if they had it to do over again, they would. That says a whole lot to me. Also, I have been feeling the pain from my weight in my legs and hips like never before. Perhaps it is psychological, or perhaps it is because I am trying to play softball. I love ball, and summertime naturally means ball. That is something that I am truly looking forward to next summer.

After this surgery, I will never let myself get in this shape again! This is a picture of me from Sunday with a neighbor pastor.

I pray all goes well for your surgery and that your recovery will be speedy. Wise to take the week off.

I must admit that I would probably be a bad patient if I ever had surgery and would no doubt have to be lectured about feelings of invicibility...probably from my wife Deb.
