These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Time to Get Serious!

There is something that I have been praying about for the last few weeks that is just kind of stuck under my skin. It is the way that a lot of Christians talk the talk on Sunday's, but come Monday there is no proof in the walk!

I think we can all agree that when we are in a crowd of Believers that we act much differently than we do when we are in a crowd of unbelievers.

Those days need to end. We must be willing to take up our cross and follow Jesus. No more Sunday morning Christians. Revelation warns of the danger of being "lukewarm." So, I guess I would say, "In or out! Make a decision!" There is a lot of hard work to do, and when we burn both ends of the candle, we get burnt. Those unbelievers know the game that you are playing, and it just makes it harder to win them to the Lord with the double lives that get led.

Think about this, "So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he'll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it's the only way you'll get on your feet." James 4:7-10 (Message Bible)

This Christmas season, decide once and for all who you are going to serve. Let go of that sinful self and cling to God. Start being a part of the solution and quit being a part of the problem. Say YES to God!
