The Rural Church

These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Teaching Tonight

It is Thursday, so I will be teaching again tonight at DMACC. This week we will talk about Confucius. In order for me to teach on the subject, I must study it and know it enough to be able to lecture on it intelligently.

The more I study on the life of Confucius, the less I understand why million of people follow him instead of Christ. He was lacking in so many areas. In my honest opinion, being a follower of Jesus Christ just makes a lot more sense.

As far as DMACC goes though, I stay in the middle of the road and give a very fair assessment of every major religion. It doesn't stop me from praying for the students to see the light though!

Father's Day

You will not find this man's name on my birth certificate, but he is my dad. His name is Mike Leese and I love him just like he was my natural father. He is the man who raised me, and he loved my mother with all of his heart.

We have very little in common. My dad is not a church-goer, but he respects what I do. I continue to pray that he would give his life to Jesus.

I'm sure he is still in bed, but I will call him after church to wish him a Happy Father's Day. Be sure to connect with your dad today!

Happy Anniversary

Yesterday marked 21 years of marriage for Cindy and I. I cannot believe it has been that long. Time just sweeps right past you. I was reminded today of our honeymoon. I can't believe it was so long ago. We went to Wisconsin camping together. I had never seen the Mississippi River so we went to Minnesota so I could see it.

We have had some really tough times over the years, but we have had so many good times that they make them seem so insignificant. God has blessed us with two wonderful boys. It has been a very good life with Cindy.

We took a long walk together yesterday and today to celebrate. We both like to walk and it has been crazy trying to get time together. It worked out very well for us. Our dog, Dodger on the other hand is showing his old age though. He was pretty pooped after the walk. We are going to try to walk together much more often.
