These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Transformation

I am scheduled to go to a denominational retreat in October and the guest speaker is Bob Roberts. I must admit that I had never heard of him before. The subject heading was "Glocalization". Again, something else I had never heard of before. I Googled Roberts and found that he had some books he has written on the subject, so I hit Amazon and bought them.

Transformation is the first book of his that I am reading. I cannot put it down. he is so on the right track that it is not even funny! I love it. Roberts defines Glocalization as a church that creates disciples who are radically transformed by the Holy Spirit and who then infiltrate today's culture on both a global and local (glocal) scale as agents of transformation.

This is exactly what i am wrestling with here at Cornerstone. I want to be relevant to our society, but I want them to know what we stand for. I will not compromise the message in order to fill seats. Once we are believers we have the Holy Spirit in our lives. We want to live Spirit-led lives. We long for that transformation. I'm not completely finished with the book yet, but I have read enough of it to recommend it!
