The Rural Church

These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Getting Some Direction

I must admit that the last couple of weeks have been rough. With that being said, I would not trade them for anything. It is totally cool how God can take the bad things that happen in our lives and use them for good. Joseph told his brothers in the last part of Genesis that they meant to harm him, but God meant it for good. That is how I am choosing to reflect on the last couple of weeks.

God did not want the individual(s?) to steal the church offering, but He did allow it. Through this time God has spoken into my life in incredible ways. He confirmed to me that my place is in Boone. This is by far the hardest church I have ever been called to pastor, but I am confident that I am in the center of His will. It would be very easy to turn tail and run, but it certainly would not be His plan for me.

We will move forward in 2009 with bold confidence that the Lord Almighty is leading us every step of the way. A big piece to the puzzle was worked out today when someone who plays a key part to 2009 and Cornerstone Church arbitrarily popped in today. I think he will help with my growth, as well as the spiritual growth of our congregation.

For my friends who read this... Thank you for praying for me the last couple of weeks. I have felt the prayers and have appreciated them immensely. A new thing to pray about, I am thinking of writing a book. I am not sure about logistics yet, but believe I am being led that way...
