These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Allow me to recommend...

I received this book from Willow Creek last week with the request to read it and post my thoughts. Here they are... I'm guilty!

Richard Stearns was a guy that had the world in his back pocket. He had money, fame, and the whole enchilada. He felt led by God to put his money where his mouth was. He took the position as President of World Vision and got busy making a difference.

Here is what I am guilty of... I encourage others to step out in faith and be the answer, but very rarely is it me who takes the real plunge. I believe I do a fine job of shepherding and proclaiming God's Word in comfortable USA, but not when it is inconvenient to me.

I believe that God is calling me out of my comfort zone. I'm not completely clear as to what He is calling me to do yet, but believe me when I say that I am a bit scared and apprehensive about the whole subject.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Criticism

I have a fella that is really hitting me pretty hard these days. It is very hard to know exactly what to do. His emails are very hurtful and they are truly unwarranted. So far I have chosen not to respond to him. I am just deleting the email, but keeping them in my deleted files in case I need them later.

My elders are very involved, but they too are at a loss of exactly what to do in this scenario. The gentleman has left the church, but he still continues to write an email or so every week. He is blaming me for his lack of spiritual growth. I know that I should ignore it and move on.

Any thoughts???
