These are the day-to-day thoughts from Pastor Jeff Lawson. I pastor a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Battle Lake, MN. This blog will hopefully help everyone who desires to pastor a church in a rural setting...

Pretty Bummed

I must confess that I am not in the best mood these days. I have had a lot of hard hits in the past couple of months. I am waiting on God because He has promised to renew my strength. I could use a big dose of that right now.

Finances at church have really been tough in 2008. We have oodles of new Christians and we are teaching them about their new faith. That is cool, but it is a process. With our tough times (and everyone knows times are tough) we had our offering stolen last week. It was in a locked safe. This has taken a huge toll on me.

I realize that it is not my money, that it is God's. I also know that He has a far better method of taking care of things than what I do. Nonetheless, it is still hard. I am human and I want to confront this person. I have prayed and allowed myself to step away and let the local authorities do their thing.

Your prayers would be appreciated.

Election

After much prayer and consideration, I have decided that I am going to vote for John McCain on Tuesday. This has not been an easy decision for me. I feel that I am making a decision that would make Jesus happy.

Barack Obama does not agree with me on several issues that I believe are a bedrock of my morality. I teach ethics in a college university and I continually tell my students that they are the ones that have to look themselves in the mirror in the morning. We must live with our decisions. because of this, I will vote for John McCain. I hope that you will do the same.

When it comes to the economy and education and taking care of the middle-class, Obama is a smart choice. When it comes to the question, who would Jesus vote for, the tide turns. Homosexuality, abortion, honesty, and several other issues make me know without a shadow of a doubt that John McCain is the right choice for me.
